Silverstone Auctions achieved total sales of £8.7 million from its two-day live online Race Retro auction, with 86% of the classic cars finding new homes – headed by a 9,953-mile 2011 Ferrari 599 GTO at £500,625 (estimate £440,000 – 500,000).
All six of the Aston Martins crossing the block were successfully hammered away, including a left-hand drive 1963 DB4 at £354,375 (estimate £350,000 – 400,000); a manual gearbox 1970 DB6 Vantage that was recommissioned by Aston Martin Works in 2018 made £331,875 (estimate £250,000 – 300,000); and a 1969 DB6 which had also been looked after in recent years by ‘Works’ sold for £272,250 (estimate £200,000 – 250,000).
A flat-floor 1961 Jaguar E-Type Series I 3.8 Coupe comfortably exceeded its £95,000 – 115,000 estimate, bringing £140,625, while an ex-Stirling Moss HWM Alta Jaguar led the competition cars, commanding a winning bid of £517,500 (estimate £500,000 – 575,000).

Duke’s sold five of the seven Bentleys being offered from The Newton House Collection on 11 March, with the pre-sale star, a matching-numbers 1929 4½ Litre, posting the top result at £465,000 (estimate £500,000 – 700,000).

‘Young timers’ continue to enjoy strong demand; Bonhams’ MPH sale in March saw a 57,400-mile left-hand drive 1989 Mercedes-Benz 560 SEC AMG 6.0 raise £146,250 (estimate £140,000 – 180,000), and a 1998 Lotus Esprit V8 GT with similar miles took an estimate-busting £47,250 (estimate £28,000 – 32,000).

H&H’s unfinished restoration project 1960 AC Aceca Bristol didn’t disappoint on the day, catalogued without reserve it fetched £99,000.
Other highlights included a ‘project’ Lotus Eleven Series 1 at £45,000 and a less complete example making £28,125, plus a 1950 Land Rover Series I SWB with only 400 miles covered since restoration which drew £27,562 (estimate £20,000 – 24,000).

Classic Car Auctions’ 1990 Audi Quattro 20V set a new auction record for the model on 26 March, its two-owner car with 48,318 miles blitzed the £50,000 – 55,000 guide, changing hands at £85,470 – helping CCA towards an impressive 90% sell-through rate.
