Gooding and Company hammered away 12 of the 14 lots offered on its Geared Online platform in June, a 1969 Ford GT40 comfortably exceeding its pre-sale estimate of £1,800,000 – 2,200,000, topping the results at £2,508,000.
Other success included a Classiche-certified 1968 Ferrari Dino 206 GT at £456,500 (estimate £450,000 – 550,000), an ex-Walter Brun 1990 Porsche 962 C with just two races in period fetched £759,000 (estimate £800,000 – 1,200,000), and a 1968 Lamborghini Miura S that was restored in the early 2000s made £737,000 (estimate £800,000 – 1,000,000).

837 Ferraris attended the National Ferrari Owners’ Day at Sywell Aerodrome, with more than 1,800 people visiting. Silverstone Auctions’ single-marque Ferrari Sale held during the event saw all four Dinos change hands, headed by a 43,650-mile 1974 246 GTS with factory-flares at £388,125 (estimate £375,000 – 425,000); while a left-hand drive 2011 599 GTO with just 2,577km from new achieved the highest price on the day, making £399,375 (estimate £380,000 – 480,000).

British classics were the star performers at Brightwells online sale, led by a 1972 Jaguar E-Type Series III V12 Roadster – converted to a 5-speed manual – showing 31,223 miles which found a new home at £58,240 (estimate £40,000 – 50,000). A 1949 Bristol 400, owned by the consignor for the past 10 years raised £44,800 (estimate £40,000 – 45,000), and a 44,500-mile 1993 Morgan Plus 8 rounded off the top three at £34,272 (estimate £24,000 – 28,000) – giving Brightwells a healthy 80% sell-through rate.

A 1965 Mercedes-Benz 230 SL originally owned by Britt Ekland crossed the block at CCA’s London Classic Car Show sale on 26 June, commanding a winning bid at £77,700 (estimate £80,000 – 100,000). Given to Ekland by her husband, Peter Sellers, the SL had three further owners and was the subject of a full restoration, with 49,950 miles on the clock.

Highlights among Anglia Car Auctions’ 240-car catalogue included a 32,359-mile 2008 Lamborghini Gallardo LP500 with 10 Lamborghini service stamps which drew £64,800 (estimate £55,000 – 65,000), while a 48,000-mile 1986 911 Supersport was the top Porsche sale at £61,560 (estimate £55,000 – 60,000).
